Karen asked:

Am trying to find where in Nasssau my ggrandfather, Karl Endlein and ggrandmother, Catherina Erl or Ehl, came from. They came from Liverpool to Castle Gardens in May, 1871.A ny suggestions would be helpful. Were any records kept in Hull, England for those people out of Germany , who went dow to Liverpool and setsail for New York? Thanks for any suggestions. Cas Endlein

Baerbel's answer:

If your ancestors took the overland route from Hull to Liverpool, they may have left Germany through the port of Hamburg using the "indirect" route. You can check the index to the indirect passenger lists [alphabetical by first letter of surname only, then chronological] on FHL film #

REGULAR INDIRECT INDEXES-------------------------- Bd 1-3 Indirect Index 1855-1865 Bd 2 Indirect Index 1866-1871 Bd 3 Indirect Index 1872-1873 FHL INTL Film 1049068 This film can be ordered to any U.S. family history center.

As far as I know, lists of Germans arriving in Hull do not exist. According to my colleagues on the British floor there are also no passenger lists for Liverpool.
