General Information

Several small farms, south of the river Tenne, 9 km northeast of Heydekrug[6]

  • A big farm, 8 km north of Heydekrug, with a forge northwest of the farm, lith. name: Mazieji Barvai[7]
  • Old name according to historical maps from 1670 and 1725: Ciucieri
  • Several big + small farms, 9 km northeast of Heydekrug, with a school at the Southern outskirts of the village, lith. name: Didieji Barbai[8]
  • Old name according to historical maps from 1670 and 1725: Ciucierei

Political Structure

In 1905,Barwen belonged to the district of Lapienen.[9]
On 1.5.1939: Barwen becomes part of the municipality of Georgenhöh.[10]

In 1905, Barwen belonged to the catholic parish of Szibben.


Civil Registration

In 1888, Barwen belonged to the civil registration district of Saugen.

School

In 1775 there was a school in the village of Barwen. A list of the inventory [1], page 18, shows that they had : 1 table, 2 school desks, 1 school catalogue, 1 lithuanian biblican history book. The list was signed by Johann Christian Ritter.
